October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is globally known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month - and rightfully so. Breast cancer impacts women worldwide, making it the most common cancer according to the World Health Organization. To emphasize the magnitude of this cancer: Throughout 12 month period that composed the year 2020, there were 2.3 million women in the United States alone who were newly diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
Quick 12's goal is to promote the well-being of all professional caregivers, with a strong connection to the nursing profession. Nursing, traditionally led by women, is a key focus in raising awareness about breast cancer statistics.
Did you know that in the United States, 1 in 8 women may develop breast cancer in their lifetime? That means working alongside 7 other nurses could put you or one of them at risk. It's a sobering thought when you think about you and your beloved colleagues, isn't it?
Thankfully, there are organizations, like Susan G. Komen, that started from a sister's promise to do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. The Susan G Komen organization has been supporting individuals and families affected by Breast Cancer since its formation in 1982. This incredible organization has so far generated and invested over 3.3 BILLION dollars to breast cancer support, treatment, and research which has significantly helped to reduce the risk of death from breast cancer by 40%. Quick 12 appreciates the positivity and impact that the Susan G. Komen organization offers to the world and we want to help them fulfill their promise. This October, 20% of proceeds from Q12 Fall Tee's will be donated to Susan G. Komen organization.
