January is National Blood Donation Month
Did you know that January is National Blood Donation Month?
The American Red Cross issued an EMERGENCY warning that they are experiencing the worst blood product shortage in over TWENTY years. The shortage has only been getting worse over the past 2 years. This is a problem that you can help fix.
If able, please consider donating blood or platelets this year. Below are some interesting facts that the American Red Cross shares, in hopes that you can see how important a "quick 12" minutes of your time could be to donate a pint of blood:
Someone needs blood every two seconds.
One pint of blood can save up to three lives.
There is no substitute for human blood.
Blood donation. It's about an hour of your time that can save someone's life.
BE POSITIVE. MAKE A DIFFERENCE. DONATE NOW.
Every January here at Quick 12 we like to highlight the good work and needs of the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross mission is to "prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors". They are a massive organization with international impact that makes an incredible difference in the world.
Could you imagine taking care of one of your patients who direly needs blood, but the blood bank was out of stock. How tragic that would be. This is a problem that can be avoided. The American Red Cross has a website dedicated to how you can help that can be accessed at: https://www.redcrossblood.org/.
Help Quick 12 support the American Red Cross as 20% of every "Be Positive" long sleeve goes to financially support the pursuit of their mission.
